White CWWK CW-M2 N150 NAS motherboard replacing the earlier purple version

The purple CWWK N355 DIY NAS motherboard previously featured in an independent NASCompares review and DIY storage communities belongs to the CWWK CW-M2 platform.

This NAS motherboard is now back in production with a new white PCB. The currently available CW-M2 is equipped with an Intel N150 processor while retaining the platform’s focus on multi-drive storage, compact NAS systems and lightweight home servers.

The purple N355 version remains out of stock. The white CW-M2 with Intel N150 is the version currently available.

Why the Original CWWK NAS Motherboard Gained Attention

The earlier purple motherboard attracted DIY NAS and homelab users because it combined extensive storage connectivity with a compact Mini-ITX form factor.

Its main hardware features included:

  • Six SATA ports
  • Two M.2 NVMe slots
  • One PCIe 3.0 x4 expansion slot
  • DDR5 SO-DIMM memory support
  • Two Intel I226-V 2.5GbE LAN ports
  • Standard Mini-ITX dimensions

This combination allowed users to build a six-bay NAS without relying on multiple external adapters or additional storage cards.

Much of the existing online feedback and third-party coverage refers to the purple N355 version. The current white CW-M2 continues the same storage-oriented product direction with an Intel N150 processor.

A video review of the earlier purple model is also available for users who want a closer look at its hardware layout and storage interfaces.

The CW-M2 Returns with a White PCB

The newly released CW-M2 uses a white PCB design, giving the motherboard a cleaner appearance and making the current version easier to distinguish from the earlier purple model.

Its design remains centered on NAS storage expansion. Six SATA ports support multiple hard drives or SATA SSDs, while M.2 NVMe and PCIe interfaces provide additional options for system drives, application storage or expansion hardware.

The two 2.5GbE ports can be used for storage traffic, system management or connections to separate network segments, depending on the operating system and network configuration.

The main updates are:

  • A new white PCB design
  • Intel N150 processor
  • Unified CW-M2 product naming
  • Current availability of the white version
  • Continued unavailability of the purple N355 model

Intel N150 for Everyday NAS Workloads

The current white CW-M2 is powered by the Intel N150, a four-core, four-thread processor with a maximum turbo frequency of up to 3.6GHz.

This configuration is aimed at storage-focused systems and lightweight server workloads, including:

  • Home file sharing
  • Computer and mobile device backups
  • Photo and video archives
  • Private cloud storage
  • Small office shared storage
  • Basic Plex or Jellyfin services
  • Lightweight Docker containers
  • Local data collection
  • Low-power 24/7 NAS operation

For these workloads, overall system performance also depends on storage drives, memory capacity, network bandwidth and file system configuration.

The N150 provides sufficient performance for common NAS services while helping reduce cooling and power requirements.

What Can You Build with the White CW-M2?

Six-Bay Home NAS

The six SATA ports can be used with hard drives or SATA SSDs to create a multi-drive home storage system.

The two M.2 NVMe slots can be assigned to the operating system, application data, fast storage or cache, depending on the selected NAS software.

Local Backup and Private Storage Server

The CW-M2 can provide centralized backup storage for computers, mobile devices and other systems.

It can also be used by small teams to store documents, project files and local backup data without relying entirely on public cloud services.

Lightweight Homelab System

In addition to storage services, the N150 platform can support lightweight containers and server applications such as:

  • Home Assistant
  • Pi-hole
  • AdGuard Home
  • Syncthing
  • Download management tools
  • System monitoring services
  • Personal cloud applications

Users planning several demanding virtual machines or CPU-intensive services should consider a higher-performance processor platform.

What to Check Before Building a CW-M2 NAS

DDR5 Memory

The CW-M2 uses DDR5 SO-DIMM memory. The required capacity depends on the operating system, file system and number of applications or containers.

SATA and NVMe Storage

SATA hard drives are suitable for high-capacity storage, while NVMe SSDs can be used for the operating system, applications or faster working data.

RAID and storage pool support depend on the selected NAS operating system.

Power Supply Capacity

Multiple hard drives can draw significantly more power during startup than during normal operation.

The power supply should therefore be selected according to the complete drive configuration rather than the processor power rating alone.

Chassis and Cooling

The enclosure must support a Mini-ITX motherboard and the intended number of storage drives.

It should also provide airflow across the processor, NVMe SSDs, SATA controller and hard drives for stable continuous operation.

PCIe Expansion Space

Before installing an HBA, network adapter or other PCIe device, check the card dimensions, SATA cable direction and available space inside the chassis.

Is the Purple N355 Version Available?

The purple CWWK N355 DIY NAS motherboard is currently still out of stock.

The version now back in production is the white CW-M2 with Intel N150. It continues the storage expansion concept of the earlier motherboard while focusing on home storage, local backup, private cloud and lightweight server applications.

Users who first discovered the purple CWWK NAS motherboard through reviews or community discussions can now find the current version under the CW-M2 product name.

The White CW-M2 N150 Is Now Available

The white CW-M2 provides a current option for users who need six SATA ports, NVMe storage, PCIe expansion, dual 2.5GbE networking and a compact Mini-ITX form factor.

Rather than replacing the multicore performance of the previous N355 configuration, the Intel N150 version focuses on practical NAS storage and lightweight home server workloads.
